As landowner to more than 42,000 acres in over 90 communities, the Forest Society must manage the frequent land use issues that arise. Our overarching goal is to ensure the long-term health of our lands, while still providing low impact, high quality recreational experiences for people.
To achieve this goal, the Forest Society has drafted policies on the public use of our reservations, addressing such topics as recreation, ATV use, hunting, fishing, dog walking, and more. Forest management procedures have also been drafted, including the use of herbicides and pesticides and the designation of Natural Areas. All policies are revised periodically and serve as guiding principles for the monitoring and management of our reservations.
